"Every glance reveals something new."

For over a thousand years, the kilns of Jianyang, Fujian have produced what many consider the finest tea bowls in Chinese history. Song Dynasty emperors and monks drank from them. Today, master artisans in Jianyang have continue to refine the craft, and pieces like this are the result.

The partridge feather glaze was favored by scholars during the Song Dynasty and frequently celebrated in poetry of that era. Look into this bowl and the warm golden and amber spots radiate outward from the centre like an endless, flowing current. It is one of the hardest glazes to achieve, with a low success rate even among experienced kiln masters.
