"Warmth held in both hands."
For over a thousand years, the kilns of Jianyang, Fujian have produced what many consider the finest tea bowls in Chinese history. Song Dynasty emperors and monks drank from them. Today, master artisans in Jianyang have fully revived the craft, and pieces like this are the result.
The persimmon red glaze gets its warm red surface and fine dark speckles entirely from the iron content of the clay and the heat of the kiln. Nothing is painted or applied. No two pieces are the same.
