This cup comes from Dehua, a county in Fujian province renowned as one of China's great porcelain-making centres since the Song Dynasty.
 
What makes it distinctive is the technique: fired silver foil, or shāo yín bó. Real silver foil is applied by hand to the ceramic surface before it enters the kiln. The heat oxidises and transforms it, producing colours no painter could plan — burnished gold, antique copper, deep shadow. Every cup emerges differently. That is not a flaw. That is the craft.
 
The form is quiet and slightly irregular, just as a hand would shape it. Natural texture on the outside, smooth pale glaze within. Small enough to hold with one hand. Perfect for your Gong Fu tea drinking use.
