“Golden lines trace fortune; the Qilin guards each sip.”
This cup references the visual language of Cloisonné (掐丝珐琅彩), an imperial craft perfected during the Ming Dynasty’s Jingtai period (“Jingtai Blue”). While true Cloisonné requires soldered metal wires filled with enamel, this piece channels that same jewel-like, intricate energy through kiln-fired glaze and painted enamel-like expressive details.
At its center stands a Qilin (麒麟), a benevolent creature said to appear only with the arrival of a sage or a just ruler. Revered alongside the dragon and phoenix, the Qilin brings prosperity, longevity, and the promise of noble descendants (“麒麟送子”). Drinking from this cup is a quiet act of invitation: fortune, step inside.
